Aquarist Club at USF January Meeting!

Our first meeting of the Spring semester will be held on Tuesday, January 17th at 5:30pm in MSC 3711 (Egret Room). Our guest speaker at the meeting will be Joe Gargas, the owner of Aqua Research Center and one of our organization's sponsors! Very Happy

Mr. Gargas started keeping aquariums when he was a kid, and now runs a company that specializes in water chemistry, treatment, and filtration. Mr. Gargas also breeds tropical fish, including: discus, angelfish, and rams. At our meeting, Mr. Gargas will be presenting on water treatment, chemistry, and filtration, and showing videos of his breeding systems. I realize we voted on this last semester, but I have classes tues/thurs all afternoon Sad

I hope I can find certain lectures I can skip. I dont want to miss every meeting and it's just Microbiology... angel

That sucks, Ashley. If possible, you can always come into the meeting late. Just be quiet when you enter. We realize that people have classes and work, so it's fine to leave early or come late.

My car is re-dead (maybe I should just set it on fire?) but at some point, I will arrive! Hopefully a bit early vs late..

I should be able to be there early, I do have to scoot around 7:15 or so if we are still going over to finalize some personal things. But very excited for tonight, I hope he brings lots of discus pics!

Last night was cool! I learned a lot about good filtration.. while I didn't pick up on 100% of the chemistry, I do feel confident in trying some new things in tanks down the line when I have more room Smile
