PostSubject: Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup    Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup EmptySun Sep 30, 2012 12:34 pm

The event is a go! The Aquarist Club is doing the Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup through Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful.

The site location we will be cleaning up is Picnic Island Park which is right by MacDill air force base.

We will meet the day of the event at 8am at Lowry Park Boat Ramp. The projects will begin at 9:00am at various sites along the Hillsborough River, Alafia River and other waterways. Once we are done cleaning the area volunteers are invited back to Lowry Park for the Rollin’ on the River Rally featuring the Recycle Regatta, River Rat Team Challenge, live music, free food, and environmental educational booths. Volunteers are welcome to enjoy this free after party to say thank you for all you do to Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful!

Day of the event October 20th-

We will meet at Lowry Park Zoo at 8am- (1101 West Sligh Avenue Tampa, FL 33604), then continue on to Picnic Island Park (7404 Picnic Island Blvd, Tampa, FL 33616.). If you would like to head back to Lowry Park Zoo after clenaing for music and food you can, though it is not required.

Transportation is NOT provided. We can start a carpool thread on here if we would like.

If anyone has any questions feel free to send me an email at Nbgroene@mail.usf.edu, or call or text me at 813-417-5982.

Hey Guys! Is there an estimate on how many people are going? I have a vehicle and could possibly carpool! My car only seats five though (including myself). It's just a thought but. depending on how many people want to go, it might be a good idea to look into renting a van for the day or something.

We have a total of 15 members who will be participating. Idealy we could do it in 3-4 suvs.

If it was less members the van may work, but we would need two and that would take quite a bit of our funds. At 5 people to a car is is roughly 4 dollars in gas per person.

I'm willing to volunteer my car as well. So far three of my five seats are occupied.

I would wear older shoes, and shorts or jeans and an older shirt. We will be getting shirts from them. As far as carpooling I will send you a separate email in the next day or two Very Happy
