Cichlids

How many people have Cichlids I am kinda curious. Also what do you prefer more, New World (N. American/S. American) or Old World (African)??

I think at the current moment you are the only person with Cichlids. I used to own some, but I don't any longer. I had a 120 gallon with Old world, grown from juvis in my moms tank and they all matured in mine. In my other 120 I had New Worlds from Oscars to Green Terrors to a blue acara. Sadly I no longer have either of the setups and have my 56 with friendlies lol

Sadly I'm loosing Groumis at a rate of one a week, and I'm currently thinking if I am going to watch them pick on each other I may as well have some German Rams, Ahlis or Africans of some sort instead

I get some friends to join. And I love rams. I realllllly dont like african cichlids.

The Africans were pretty cool to watch breed in my 120, they used to swim endlessly through the holy rock in my tank. Rams are beautiful though. When I bought my plecos about a year ago I purchased them off of aquabid from snookin21 (out of Ft. Myers)(http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?disp&viewseller&Snookn21) He has some good looking rams and shipping is only 15 dollars since he is in FL.

Oh I am getting my Rams from a private breeder. Im soo stoked.

I'm sure you are, I would be too! Any idea on the timeline of when you will get them?

I can't wait to see them when you get them. Sorry for not saying bye yesterday, my family went to the fifth floor while my corals were being bagged and the elevator wouldn't bring them back to the second floor. So I sprinted out to get to them. Nice meeting you though!

I have c. I personally prefer Africans because they are a little more colorful and depending on the fish are usually much smaller than New World cichlids. (ex. Midas, Green Terrors). One thing you've got to watch with Africans is that they are extremely aggressive and really have to pick what you want int he tank ahead of time and work from their based on their enviroment which can help keep them a little less aggressive. If you go with Africans the most aggressive are going to be Jewels, Mbunas, and Birchardis(pretty, but school like snapper and become very very territorial... I'm just saying my poor synodontis dont have any fins ).

Your not the only one! I have a 72 gallon bowfront with frontosas, blue dolphin, and a placidocromis phenochilus.
