| Im 1 month in and I am noticing alot of pink and some brown on my rocks. Is this good or bad | |

| It's normal. No worries. The pink sounds like coralline algae, which is considered good. The brown is probably diatoms. The diatoms should go away as the tank matures. | |

| Awesome. Thank you very much for the response. One morr question. I did a 50% water change cause my nitrates were through the roof and I hooked up my protein skimmer. Checked my nitrates this morning and still through the roof. What else can I do. | |

| get some macroalage to take care of those nitrates those things live off it so it will go away if you get some | |

More water changes, a refugium (macroalgae), or perhaps bioballs. | |

| If you are noticing brown on your rocks and that your nitrates are high your tank is probably finishing up its cycle. That'd be my guess since you are one month in. Just keep monitoring it, and doing normal water changes of around 15% weekly and it should be fine and then ready for fish and coral! | |

| i agree those are just diatoms those are completely normal for a tank thats finishing it s cycle give it a couple of days buy some snails and you will be good to go | |
