Time-6:00pm
Address-677 Piper Lane, Largo FL 33777
This month's meeting is at the treasurer Ann's house. She has two great looking tanks. One is a freshwater tank with cichlid's and the second is her newer Large saltwater tank. There will be a pot luck dinner as always so please bring a side dish or desert.
The new education director and St. Pete Aquarium’s Lead Aquarist Zachary Ostroff will have a presentation regarding the research he has done in conjunction with the Coral Reef Restoration. Here is a little Bio on Zach: “My work focuses on the growth and culture of the staghorn coral, Acropora cervicornis. Specifically I am investigating differences between line nursery culture, in which coral fragments are grown suspended in the water column, and more traditional fixed nursery methods where coral fragments are secured to growth plates/pucks with epoxy. The line nursery I engineered and installed to test these differences has produced material for thousands of fragments, which have already been used for a variety of purposes, including fellow student projects and educational exhibits.”
