Was pretty fun, a lot of amazing deals on fish. I think a zebra pleco went for 120 bucks. My roommate got an awesome deal on a school of silver tipped tetras and some Otos.

The auction experience was really cool too! I'd never been to one before and it was cool to watch how it worked. TBAS did it very efficiently I'd say, announcing the fish, number and if it merited description they described the value or condition of the particular item. The auctioneer would usually set the bid, around 5 dollars to start for most things, but for some others would shout out their bid and hold their numbered paddle up, the auctioneer going up till only one paddle was up.

It was mostly fish but there was also shrimp, crabs, snails and t-shirts. There was also equipement that went super cheap for silent auction.

I left around noon, was anyone else there?

It was a awesome event. There were 531 bags of livestock plus a raffle for a 27 gal cube set up ( tank, filter,LED lights plus othe goodies ) and the silent auction had 2 or 3 UV sterilizer units ,canister filters and HOB filters , 4 or 5 Digital LED lights plus a NANO tank set up plus other dry goods.

The TBAS live plant auction will be held at the regular Jan 14th meeting.

Also the Florida State Fair Aquarium Beautiful deadline is Dec 14th. Check out the fair web site under competions for entry form and rules. Or contact me for info.

That's great, Bill! I'm glad the auction was a success!! Very Happy

What's the deal with the plant auction, just plants or plants plus dry goods?

And, if you get a chance, can you post the state fair competition stuff on the forum. Or send the link to me, and I can post it. Thanks! Smile
