I'm a bit confused. Is the ban going to prohibit collection during those months or sales in retail stores. The concept of "no-take" months makes it sound collection oriented, but the article starts out saying it will be a "prohibition on sale of aquatic life for aquarium purposes throughout Hawaii. " Even if those sales are of tank-raised animals??? That doesn't make sense.
And if it's a prohibition on collection, wouldn't that just put more pressure on collectors to collect as many as they can when they can, making the dent in the wild population more significant at one time? That could make it nearly impossible to keep sustainable populations.
I don't like this particular idea, but at least if gets the subject talked about at a state level...
