Hello fellow fish-enthusiasts!
My name is Jessica, and I'm a marine bio major (big surprise, right??) at the Tampa Campus. I have been in and amongst fresh water tanks just about all my life! Previously, I've kept tropical fish of all sorts, but currently, I am the housekeeper for a very spoiled Black Moor goldfish that has been with me for about 5 years. I also like to consider myself an amateur Betta breeder, and I still have one of the babies from my first breeding experiment. Eventually, I'd like to establish a saltwater tank, but as of right now, that's just wishful thinking. :] I'm excited to meet all of the other fishy people in this club, and I can't wait for meetings to start!

Haha thanks! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of when the babies were first hatched, because they were so miniscule and extrememly hard to photograph! But I do have a pic of the female baby i still have. This pic was from a few months ago, she's much bigger now! I plan on trying to breed her sometime; hopefully I'll have second generation bettas soon!

Thank you Smile I don't know about other fish, but it was a long, slow process with those bettas. I didn't have a good survival rate for the babies, either; the female i have is the only one that made it :/ But, I've been doing my research and hopefully next time more will survive!

It was so interesting watching them grow, and it really wasn't that difficult to get the parents to breed. The hassle was trying to make sure the fry were eating enough, and they stay little for so long, you can't just throw flake food in and say "ok guys! go at it!" lol. I'll definitely take more pictures and videos the next time i have hundreds of tiny bettas swarming a tank, it's quite a sight!
