how reef capable is this fixture , im thinking about breaking down my 55 planted and going reef and was wondering if I could use my current fixture

It's completely reef capable. I ran T5s on my 50 gallon for 3 years and kept any coral that I wanted (even acros which like a lot of light). I ran a 6-bulb fixture, so I had a little more light coverage than you would, but I still think you'll be fine.

As cool as a reef tank would be, it would be sad to see your awesome planted tank go, though... Neutral

I dont know im kinda tworn , I love my planted tank but I want something a little more challenging and new , Ive just been wanting a salt water tank for quite awhile now and I was gonna do a nano reef but bigger is always better , Maybe I can talk the fiance into another big tank , maybe a 75 planted and get the discus ive always wanted then convert the 55 into a reef , hmmmmm

i wouldnt use any other fixture for a reef tank how much did you pay for it cause i just bought one the other day and it was like $200 for the same thing
