| Hi I'm Drew. I've been at USF now for a while Anyways I am an Anthro major (focusing on Archaeology). My fish story: we always had mollies when I was a kid in a small 10 gallon tank and I always wanted something bigger. I had fish tanks in every apartment I've been in and each time they get a bit more complex, now I've got a high tech 55 gallon (2x54w t5ho, pressurized co2, planted freshwater) which I am still tweaking and working on. It's my first trip into the high end planted, I've been doing low light plants and always wanted to get one of those full lush tanks...it's been interesting I just made some changes and am trying to figure out why my vals are melting after I trimmed them at the tip because they were growing crazy) but so far so good, I've been getting good growth out of everyone else (even got some babys on the way) and now I've got a second 10 gallon which has been cycled and I'm planning on doing some painted fire reds or yellows in there...I'm getting there, but I've got tank journals on the planted tank forums if any of you have been there? Anyways I know that I am starting to get MTS and am trying to figure out a way to add just one more tank to my apt Ummmm IDK if I can think of anything else... OH the shrimp in my pic is from my 55 | |

| yea I will have to check out that section, I've been busy tonight and have been doing a ton of research to see why my vals are melting, and now that I know I just hope that I didn't do enough damage to kill them off | |

| Hey Drew! Welcome!
I'm a fellow planted person, though an admitted noob. I've actually been thinking of getting MTS for my tank to help eat the algae, hoping my puffer would help cull the population.

| I've never tried puffers as for MTS I was saying Multiple Tank Syndrome Although I hear that the MTS(snails) do a great job my yoyo loaches would decimate them I figured out what was killing my vals too it was the excel dosing I was doing to get rid of some bba but thankfully since the bba is turning red and white I know that I can simmer down with the excel but I think that I lost all my vals that's ok though because now I'm trying to think what to put in that corner | |

I've got a couple of different substrate setups in my high tech it's 33% normal 66% flora max my shrimp tanks are Eco complete. The substrate used depends on what you're planning with the tank I also use in substrate fertilization depending on what I'm putting in the tank as well

| Hi Drew
I have a 75g planted dirt substrate walstead method inspired tank. I have countless MTS in my tank. If you want some free ones let me know. Im about to buy an Assassin snail or something to reduce the population. Just to warn you, I started with 17 snails and since they eat organic matter (dead plants, fish food, and what not) they multiplied like crazy. They are great at keeping the substrate airated though, ive never had any problems with sulfides or anything like that.
