PostSubject: "Hey Everybody"   "Hey Everybody" EmptyTue Jul 24, 2012 11:25 am

Hello:
I just heard about this club through the debacle going on over at Monster Fish Keepers. Talk about bullying. In the end I think Monster Energy Drinks will be sent home packing.
Anyway, I went to USF in the eighties and may return in January. I had no idea there was an active aquarium group so I figured I'd better join. I've been keeping fish for a long time and have bred a few along the way.
Have a Great Day!!!

Welcome Spawn! Welcome!

Glad you found us! When you say you heard about us because of the "Monster" issue, what exactly do you mean?

When you get a chance, you should definitely post some pics of your 20L in our "Showcase" sub-forum. We'd all love to see your set-up! Wink

Also, I'm going to go ahead and mark you as an "honorary" member on our forum since you don't currently attend USF. It's just so that we keep track of who is a USF student and who isn't for USF Student Government (so that we can maintain our funding through them). If you do return to USF, I'll switch you then. Smile

Hey spawn! Glad to hear that you found us! Any idea on what you would be considering returning for in January?

Hello:
Honorary member is good enough for me. I didn't finish at USF because of family issues which caused scheduling and study conflicts. I always wanted to return and now I'm setting myself up to do just that.
As far as Monster Fish Keepers goes, I've been a member for a few years and they sent me something about what was going on. One of the links led here and I said..."Hey, I went there!" Then I checked it out and joined. I've been involved off-and-on with TBAS for many years though I haven't been to recent meetings because of an unreliable car (that issue is fixed now so it's off to the races) so I'll be back with a vengeance. I'd like to attend your meetings as well.
A little more about Aquariums and me; I've been involved in aquariums and fish since I was a little guy and there were only metal framed tanks (I still have a few of those). I've kept lots of fish over the years and have bred maybe 15 or so species. I plan to do a bit more of that. I also am quite fond of aquatic amphibians.
I belong to several web based fish groups (including a fossil fish group) as well as several herp groups and writing groups. I've attended several herp and fish conventions as well. I've been writing for around twenty years, mostly fiction, but have written things on Icthy and Herpy subjects. I have been to several of Florida's fish farms multiple times and really am fascinated by the work they do. I used to be in local Heavy Metal bands in my younger days and now am involved in writing and zero budget movie-making. I read Sci-Fi, Horror, and comics.
Well, now you know it all, nothing hidden. I love Mother Nature's treasures, both past and present and do get out into the wild to study things first hand.
Have a Great Day!!!
John (aka, "Spawn")
P.S. My favorite fish are the Catfish

That's really cool! Well, I'm glad Monster Fish Keepers and TBAS led you to us! Our meetings will start up again in the Fall. We meet once a month. All of the info will be posted here and on our Facebook page as well.

Btw, what fish have you bred in the past?

I have bred Convicts six times, I've bred Fancy Guppies, local Sailfin Mollies, Rosy Barbs, Gambusia, Swordtails, Mickey Mouse Moons, several African Mbuna species, zebra danios, Least Killifish and Meeki Firemouths on a couple occasions. The Meeki babies were really tiny and appeared like a cloud of dust in the tank for the first 3-4 days.
I'm sure there are a couple others but those are the ones I remember. I think I'm going to go for Kribensis next.
C-Ya!!!

Really cool! We don't have many members in our club that have experience breeding fish, so it's really nice to have you around to contribute your experience!
