gahhhhhh my tank is pissing me off

one of my sps has started dieing. not rtn, maybe stn. cant figure out why.. its got highflow.. my setosa looks fine.. some of the other sps looks fine.
another piece died off a few days ago. just slowly went back to skeleton.. its not bleaching, my lights are now down to two fixtures and are set to three hours a day of daylight.
i didn't do a waterchange for two weeks but was doing 10% ones every week before then. I just did a 30% one yesterday so we'll see if it helps..

Idk. i'm just reallly freaking frustrated. coralline has stopped growing too.. I could add biopellets but i don't really want to unbalance things anymore..


my skimmer never pulls that much out.. i've got auto topoff..
no red bugs/ aefw..

can anybody reccomend anything to me? i'm out of ideas.


i'll test calcium tonight.. does anyone have an alk kit?

I'm in Maryland currently, but I'm sure that you could swing by and pick up an Alk test kit from Nick...

Is your temp stable? I had some die-off because of my temp climbing with summer. I added another fan to my sump and now all is well.

Test the parameters, maybe you flow is too much? If you skimmer isn't pulling a ton maybe the water is really clean. Have you used the aminos?

If you stop by before 1:30 I'll give you the test kits we have

i've tried using the aminos some.. not too much of a difference. :\

i'll try to do a full-test today, my brother is leaving though so it may be a "family day" lol

hmm idk about the temp.. i'm running leds and i think my heaters are set to like 78 or 75. I havent tested them in a while though. probably should do that

Sorry, well one more went half rtn.. we'll see if it pulls out.

On the flip side, i broke off a piece of one acro and it has regrown of the broken skeleton in 3 days (polyps there, not all the way colored yet). The same one has also regained its purple tips too..

hopefully it'll be more effecient and easier to clean now..

That sucks that another RTNed and that your bulkhead is now leaking.

Was your temp normal?

Lol I drained my sump when I did a water change last week, the filter sock was making the stand wet and warping it on the side. I didn't take into account that sliding the sump right (towards the return pump) would move all of my plumbing. So... my bulkhead is leaking as well lol

Maybe try less flow on your acros. If it seems like a slow tissue necrosis maybe the flow is beating at the flesh?

i had the same problem with a birdtree and a couple of polyps so you are not alone my suggestion is testing for the phosphates, and try so coralline algae enhancer works like a charm it made every rock in my tank covered in coralline algae
