Trip to Mote Aquarium!

The Aquarist Club at USF is taking a trip to Mote Aquarium on Saturday, April 7th! The trip includes a tour of Mote Aquarium and a Sea Life Encounter Eco Boat Tour!! If you want to be included on this trip, you MUST RSVP on the Doodle Poll posted below (it was also sent out by e-mail)!

Unfortunately, the shark tank tour has been canceled. The only days to view the shark tanks are weekdays, and since weekdays do not work for the majority of our members, we have opted to stick with Saturday, April 7th for the trip and leave the behind-the-scenes tour of the shark tanks for summer or fall.

However, the trip is still going to be AMAZING!!!!!

Unfortunately, it would cost you $36 (since we can't cover you with our Student Government funding)... We'd love it if you can make it, though!

Is the eco-tour still on as well? Sucks about the tanks but at least we know ahead of time!! MOTE has a great facility and you will see a lot regardless

Yes, the eco-tour is still on. The trip includes admission into the Mote Aquarium and the Sea Life Encounter (eco-cruise). The only thing that's been canceled is the tour of Dr. Motta's tanks...

The trip is FREE! However, you will have to provide your own transportation. We might be able to set-up a carpool system, but there is no formal transportation to Mote aquarium.

Tomorrow is the last day to RSVP! Please make sure to RSVP by 5pm, otherwise you won't be able to attend the trip!!!!

A reminder that the trip is this Saturday, April 7th!

The preliminary itinerary is below. We cannot officially reserve the Sea Life Encounter Eco-Tour until April 5th, so this itinerary will not be finalized until Thursday. On Thursday, I will send out an e-mail with the final itinerary.

In addition, many of you have inquired about transportation to Mote Aquarium. While the club is covering your entire admission cost, the club is NOT providing your transportation or money for lunch/snacks. It will be up to you to arrange your own transportation and bring money for lunch/snacks.

While the club will not be providing official transportation, there is a carpool thread on our club forum in which members can post if they would like to offer to drive other members, and members can post if they need a ride. Carpool Thread: Link.

Also, here is the link to the website of the restaurant that is inside of Mote Aquarium and where we will be having lunch (Deep Sea Diner Link). You can find the restaurant's menu posted on the website, so that you can browse their food options and know how much money to bring.

* Important! If you become UNABLE to attend the trip to Mote Aquarium and do not notify me that you are going to be absent by 5pm this Wednesday (April, 4th), you will be required to reimburse the club the $36 that we had to pay for your admission!

Btw, parking is FREE!

There is also a small bird sanctuary called Save Our Seabirds (S.O.S.) located kind of in the middle of MOTE parking. It's $5, but it's non-profit rescue, rehab, and release center and is a great assist to the seabird sanctuary I worked at.. for anyone who likes birds

I had a BLAST! Thank you so much for getting us all paid for and scheduling and arranging this whole trip! I've never been in an organization that's actually been able to do something like this for its members!

I'm glad you had a good time! We have to give thanks to Student Government who made the trip possible. Without them, we could have never afforded it.
