Anyone heard of this? St. Pete is building a big fancy new Pier this year. They challenged world famous architects to design it in a competition and the winner was chosen recently. I think they just recently finalized the plan with city hall.

I figured I'd share this with you guys; the design is pretty neat. I think they are trying to include a "natural aquarium" that will be in the center of the pier for people to look at too (the bit about that is on page 37 of the link below).

I'd heard about and seen images of the new Pier, but I didn't know it was going to incorporate a reef. Super cool! Very Happy

I feel like this was altered a bit from their original idea.. which is good because I remember not liking it before. I don't think the crests at the top were there at first.. lends itself a lot to the design!

I really think this is super cool. There's a lot of things to do and stuff to see that really make this a destination. I would love to go there sometime. Too bad they probably wont even start the construction until I'm long gone Sad I couldn't figure out in their timeline where "approved by city hall" was :/

The website mentioned construction starting early spring, this could be outdated information however.
