Hi!!! My name is Ashley and I am sooooo excited to be a part of this amazing club!!! I am just now starting to explore hobby aquarium keeping but I have worked at the florida aquarium, seaworld, and with sawfish research, so I guess I was just an aquarist in a different way haha. I really want to have a small tank in my room but I'm not sure what a good species would be since I'm not home a lot since I'm taking care of fish somewhere else! Wink I have had betas in the past, but I just don't want anyting to happen to them when I leave for christmas break or vacations Sad Any suggestions? Very Happy

Welcome, Ashley! Welcome!
I didn't realize you worked with sawfish! Awesome!! Nicholas is going to like that... Very Happy Do you have any pics by any chance?? Question

As for a fish that could handle you being gone...I think you probably have a few freshwater options. They make vacation feeders that may be able to sustain fish while you are away. Or, if the aquarium was small enough, you could just bring the aquarium home with you during long breaks. Bettas, goldfish, tetras, etc. are all pretty hardy. My friend used to keep glo-fish at college. The aquarium was only about 3 gallons, so she just brought the whole aquarium home over winter and summer break.
